Faclons/Panthers Preview

The I-85 rivalry will be renewed once again today at 1p.m. when the Panthers travel south to the Georgia Dome to take on the division rival Atlanta Falcons. The Dome has not been kind to the Panthers, where they have lost their last three games by an average of 15.3 points (source: www.panthers.com). Hioowever, with all the talk about Atlanta's passing attack, the Falcons have struggled to put it together this season. Also, they will be without their top draft pick, WR Julio Jones, who is out with a pulled hamstring, further grounding their passing attack. The Falcons come into today's game at 2-3, just one game above the Panthers in the NFC South division. With a victory against the Falcons today, the Panthers could claw their way out of the basement and start the road to a comeback. They will have to find a way to control RB Michael Turner, who scored more points totaled in the two meetings between the teams last season than the Panthers did as a team total. In both Falcon victories this season, Turner has rushed for over one hundred yards, but less that one hundred int their three losses. Now is the time for Cam Newton to shine and lead the Panthers to a much-needed victory. My prediction: Carolina 24 Atlanta 20.
